Wings of Glory is a tabletop air combat game using 1:144 scale miniature aircraft along with cards to simulate movement and damage.
The basic rules are very simple and take only a few minutes to learn, making it extremely easy and fun for new players to pick up.
There are also advanced rules and historical scenarios to appeal to the more experienced gamer.
Because of the models' small size and their unique card-based movement, Wings of Glory doesn't take much space to play... a typical coffee shop table has plenty of room for a duel!
There are WWI and WWII versions of Wings of Glory available. Here in Santa Barbara, we mainly fly the WWI version because we think it's the most fun!
A basic Duel Pack contains everything you need to get started (two aircraft models, cards, rulebook & accessories) and runs about $25 through Amazon. It will deliver countless hours of extremely fun WWI dogfighting action, and can easily be expanded from there to include two seaters, bombers, balloons and more!
But you don't need to buy anything to try out the game - just come to one of our meetups, and we'll be happy to let you take a couple of our planes out for a spin!
Our group primarily meets as part of the Santa Barbara Wargaming group on Tuesdays from 6:00-10:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am-5:00pm.
The SBWG group was established in 2010 and plays at a private residence in downtown Santa Barbara with a large and comfortable dedicated gaming space. New players are most welcome to drop by and check us out! Address available via the Santa Barbara Wargaming Facebook group. Just contact us and we'll be happy to get you playing!
We also play on an ad hoc basis at other locations around town.
Email me and I'll be happy to help with any Wings of Glory questions you might have, let you know when and where we'll be playing next, or meet up with you to show you how the game works.
See you "up there"!
